Product Description

NR-80 is a carbon fiber reinforced high density calcium silicate board excellently suited for non-ferrous metal casting insulation,  the materials are suitable for temperature as high as 1000°C, it can be directly contacted with liquid aluminum as its aluminum non-wetting property.

NR-80 is a ceramic material with an excellent performance of pseudoplastic because of the integrated carbon fiber in the calcium silicate matrix which makes the fracture toughness is very high, there is no any chemical bonding, propagating cracks lose their energy which is also visible in the strong fiber pull out. The fracture toughness is supported by the long fibers and considerably increases the work of fracture.

Due to the non-problematic fracture performance of NR-80 materials, it is an ideal material where there are high tensile and torsion forces, cracks will not make complete failure of the special parts. Typical application includes hot top rings, transition plates, header plates, spouts, casting box etc.

With density range 800-1200 kgs/m3 , high density calcium silicate insulation board is developed for the non-ferrous industry used for feeding ,casting and molding of  molten aluminum and other non-ferrous metals, also can be used for clamping fixture of glass industry . In addition to its insulation, its characteristic of non-stick aluminum exerts a large. Superior strength and good process ability makes it the preferred material for precision CNC machined parts and complex components. There are two types, namely, glass fiber reinforced and carbon fiber reinforced.

Technical calcium silicate is a high performance technical ceramic manufactured from calcium silicate, it is asbestos and quartz free. The densities are ranging from  800 to 1200 kg/m³) and can be machined to very close tolerances. The non-wetting properties make these products ideally suited for non-ferrous metal casting applications.  They are also used in a wide range of thermal process applications, and are rated for continuous use to 1832 °F (1000°C).

As a refractory material,   it can be used in metal flow control applications in the aluminum industry, and as "hot face" linings in holding furnaces, die casting units and heat treatment equipment.

Technical calcium silicate board has high dimensional stability, and incorporates a unique particle reinforcement to increase fracture toughness and thermal shock resistance. These improvements extend the service life of the refractory components, and reduce operating costs.

Our products are widely used in billet and ingot casters as spouts, floats, trough dams, skim dams etc. Because of low shrinking, some of the material is very suitable for billet casting applications.
